Anti-stress (Re-edit)

On 2007 I began experimenting with video works instead of canvases and oils. First I shot what I considered a long video that lasted two minutes. Then I shot three short videos of 10 seconds. For the two-minute video I performed the destruction of a Game Cube. I set the device on a flower pot with dried soil over a marble table covered with golden silk sheets. Then I stroke the gamecube with a hammer over and over again until It broke into pieces. I named my video Anti-stress. On 2009, I had my first video exhibition at a local night club. I exhibited Anti-stress' original version during the opening night on the dance floor. On 2011 my computer suffered a data loss of 70 gigabytes. I lost almost all my video and photographic works. While recovering files I found again my video anti-stress and decided to re-edit it.

En el 2007 comencé a experimentar trabajando con video en lugar de pintura. Primero grabé lo que consideraba en ese tiempo un video largo con duración de dos minutos en el que destruía un Game Cube. Después filmé tres videos de diez segundos. Para el primer video mencionado puse el aparato sobre una maceta llena de tierra seca que descansaba sobre una mesa de mármol cubierta por sábanas de seda dorada. Después golpeé el aparato hasta que lo rompí en pedazos. Llamé a mi video Anti-estres. En el 2009 tuve mi primera exhibición de video en un club en el poniente de la Ciudad de México en el cual mostré la versión original de "Anti-estres" en la pista durante la noche de inauguración. En el 2011 mi computadora sufrió una pérdida de información en la cuál desapareció casi toda mi producción de video y fotografía. Mientras recuperaba algunos archivos encontré a "Anti-estres" y decidí reeditarlo.

While being on a search for an inner peace I decided to destroy all the drawings I had made between 2007 and 2010 that were still in my hands. I belive that drawing is an act similar to the work made at the gym; it is only an exercise, so actually the act of keeping all of them was just a selfish act and a dependance to my work. The magic is not in the paper, it's in the act of drawing.

En búsqueda de una paz interior decidí romper todos los dibujos que realicé entre el 2007 y el 2010 que aún tenía en mis manos. Creo que el acto de dibujar no es muy distinto del de ir al gimnasio, solo es un ejercicio y una disciplina. Por lo tanto guardar estos dibujos era solo un acto ególatra y una dependencia a tener mi trabajo cerca, porqué además creo que la gracia no esta en el hoja ni en el resultado, si no en el acto de dibujar.
